This was the week when the US said Russian violations and the strategic threat from China were behind its decision to pull out of a key nuclear missile treaty, Saudi Arabia held a major investment conference despite tensions over the killing of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the UN said a devastating famine was a real threat in Yemen, and scientists urged countries to step up efforts to capture carbon to combat climate change.
