A little bit about us

Chris MoylesChris Moyles, the saviour of Radio 1, started his radio career at the age of 16 on Aire FM in Leeds and over the following six years worked his magic on several other stations including Radio Luxembourg and London's Capital FM.

By the beginning of 1997, people were beginning to talk - he was voted as one of the 'Faces for '97' by Sky Magazine. His outspoken style took the capital by storm, and his no-holds barred approach brought him to the attention of Radio 1 bosses.

Chris joined Radio 1 on Monday 28 July 1997 and styled himself as 'The Saviour of Early Morning Radio' taking the early morning 4.00am slot by the scruff of the neck.

In May 1998, after only nine months at Radio 1, he won the Silver Sony Radio Award for DJ of the Year. A successful stint on the summer Roadshow tour wowing crowds of screaming fans was followed by the main compere slot at V98 (Leeds) in August.

In October 1998, Chris Moyles was allowed out to play in daylight, when he was promoted to front the late afternoon show. Chris is less than ably assisted by Producer Will and Comedy Dave. A successful year was crowned when Sun readers voted him DJ of the Year.

The show took to the road in 2000 for the One Big Belly tour hitting Scarborough, Hunstanton, Weymouth, Paignton and Newquay. It followed successful outside broadcasts from the Euro 2000 tournament in Belgium and Holland, with live performances from a host of celebs.

Summer 2001 and Chris was one of the main DJs fronting the One Big Sunday events, the network's mini-festivals throughout the UK, which reached about half a million people live.

With the introduction of the new daytime Radio 1 schedule, Chris's weekday show was extended by an hour which gave him more of a chance to show off, belittle celebrities and lark about with Comedy Dave, Producer Will and Lizzy. The team also descended on the States for a week of live shows from LA and Vegas.

In 2004 Moyles took over the Radio 1 Breakfast Show from Sara Cox, officially becoming the saviour of Breakfast Radio. The team have toured the UK with the Red Nose Rally and they also spent a week doing the show in New York in 2005. Chris has also been host at many of Radio 1's live events such as the One Big Sunday and One Big Weekends.

His TV work includes Live With Chris Moyles (Five, 2002) and The Chris Moyles Show (UK Play, 1999-2000).

Comedy DaveComedy Dave is director of comedy on the Chris Moyles show, and is Chris' long time sidekick, drinking partner and friend.

Dave started off at Radio 1 working on the overnight show while Chris was presenting Early Breakfast and the pair quickly struck up a friendship. It wasn't long before Dave was working on the show and when Chris moved to his afternoon programme, Dave followed.

Dave's highlights at Radio 1 include taking the Simon Mayo show off air in a moment that nearly ended his career, and travelling the country with Chappers to raise over £300,000 for Comic Relief.

RachelRachel Jones the producer has run the London Marathon, you know. She joined the show in October 2003, following on from producing Colin and Edith, Scott Mills, Chris' Saturday Show and Backstage.

DominicDominic Byrne is theÌýnewsreader on the show. Originally from Norwich, he's been at Radio 1 for several years now, reading news bulletins across the network. The three words he'd use to describe himself areÌý"kind, sensitive and bald".

Dom joined the team in January 2004, and has since performed in front of 15,000 people dressed as a giant dog as part of Mouldy Lookin' Stain and even presented his own show on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Norfolk.

CarrieCarrie DavisÌýreads the sport.ÌýBefore coming to Radio 1 in the latter half of 2004, she was aÌýreporter forÌýFive Live and ´óÏó´«Ã½ News 24.
