Jakokoyak was in session on Huw's OneMusic 1st Birthday show.

The OneMusic shows give big love to one man bands so we're delighted to feature Cardiff 's Rhys Edwards - the young man behind the otherworldly sounds of Jakokoyak, voted 20th Sexiest Man in Wales in a recent newspaper poll.听

Jakokoyak听is living proof听that Welsh-language music can be adventurous, forward-thinking, and accessible - even to our non-Welsh-speaking ears.

Piecing his music together on lo-fi equipment, Rhys takes up tools including guitar, keyboard, melodica, and vibraphone to create ambient and cool electronica.

The buzz around Jakokoyak has been building for some time. He first appeared on Boobytrap's celebrated 2003 compilation Steps In The Left Direction. He's also on Peski compilation听Am Cyfan Dy Pethau Prydferth, a title inspired by a badly translated poster spotted in Cardiff that translates as All The Beautiful Things.听

Jakokoyak's current e.p. Flatyre is out now on the Peski label.

Tour dates (with backing musicians):

Feb 16听Brighton Pavillion Tavern with Super U and The Boogs
Feb 24 Wrexham Central Station.
Mar 25 Clwb Rheilffordd, Bangor (tbc)
Apr 28 Toucan Club Cardiff (solo set)
May 11 Bath Moles Club (tbc)
