The Northern Sinfonia on the Beach
There are many ways to participate in orchestral life in the UK.

You can become a friend of your local orchestra.听 All professional and many amateur orchestras have a Friends scheme whereby you can get discounted tickets, access to rehearsals, social evenings, special events, and a range of other benefits: Contact your local orchestra for details.听

Many local libraries or local newspapers听also carry details of orchestras in their area or publicise forthcoming concerts.听It is also worth doing a search on the internet as virtually all professional orchestras and many amateur ones now have their own websites.听 There are links to nearly all the professional orchestras sites on this page.

But the most exciting to way to become involved, of course, is as a player. Most amateur orchestras - and there are nearly 400 scattered throughout the UK - have performing opportunities. There are orchestras to suit most levels of playing ability, from the absolute beginner to the semi-professional player who has much experience.

It's never too late to learn an instrument either - the 大象传媒 Parent's Music Room is geared towards children but has lots of useful information about getting started and finding a teacher.
