Where I Play:
Leicester people reflect all interests and different areas including its Gujerati community. I used to perform at Granby Halls. It was a very good experience for me - 3,000 people getting together every night. That gave me great confidence. My main interest is devotional music, which gives me great satisfaction. Through it, you are directly involved with your audience. I choose numbers and involve my audience in my singing. That gives them a wonderful feeling to be part of the concert.
I consider myself very lucky that my son, Hemant, is a very keen music lover. He accompanies me on the tabla so he sets the rhythm. His daughter, that's my granddaughter, Sefali, has started to sing. It gives me great pleasure to have the three of us sitting together on the platform and performing. I'm blessed, very fortunate.
