A favourite song:
'Gwaal: Tame Charaacavaa' is the song I've chosen to sing. It comes from an album of Gujerati songs devoted to Lord Shrinathji, called Jai Jai Shrinathji which is one of my latest musical projects. This song was specially composed for me by my music arranger and director, Ashit Desai. It's a folk tune related to Krishna going to the fields with the cows.
Ashit comes here to England for holidays in the Lake District. He was a great lover of Wordsworth and this is how we developed our friendship. I was very lucky that on my 60th birthday he presented me with eight songs. I thought that if each track was sung by a different artist, that would be exciting. Luckily all the artists consented to sing on the album including Lata Mangeshkar and Hema Desai. I'm really pleased that Lata Mangeshkar agreed as she's a renowned singer of film songs. She's even in the Guinness Book of records for singing about 25,000 songs in all.
