Lily's news
by Vicky S
Charlie's sad demise, as seen by Lily Pargetter, and contributed to the Fantasy Archers topic of .
Last night my Grandma's dog Charlie was dead and my Grandma is dead too. daddy was crying and mummy said for god's sake nigel the children are watching and he said I can't help it lizzie that dog meant a lot to mummy and she was the last link and mummy said oh for god's sake nigel pull yourself together the old b*tch had a good innings and was beginning to pee everywhere anyway. then she was laughing a bit in her nose and said I mean the dog and daddy said a bad word and told me and Freddie to go and ask what time it was in the kitchen. when we had our tea daddy put Charlie in a big sheet and mummy said for god's sake nigel couldn't you find anything else that is one of the good sheets.
then me and Freddie went to bed in the morning we had breakfast and I had coco pops and Freddie had shreddies and mummy said I have spoken to titcombe about you know what and daddy said no I don't know what and mummy said the d-o-g-s b-u-r-i-a-l and Freddie said can we watch him bury her and mummy said good grief nigel did you hear that and daddy said well he didn't get it from my side. I said to daddy can I have Charlie's collar for show and tell and Freddie kicked me and said that's not fair I thought of it first and I stuck my tongue out and he kicked me again and mummy said a bad word and its only quarter to eight in the morning you two just pack it in now or else.
Freddie said now Charlie is dead can we have another dog and daddy said mummy and I will think about it and I said can we have a puppy called Floppy like in my reading book and daddy said we'll see and mummy said for god's sake nigel we've haven't buried this dog yet and I think you and I need to talk before you make any more promises.
on the way to school we went past my cousins house his dad is a vet and is good at dead animals. Freddie said can Uncle Alistair make Charlie alive again and mummy laughed a bit in her nose then she said no darling once something is dead it is dead and you can't make it come alive again no matter how much you want to. and Freddie said I know that I was just saying it. and I said when Grandma died did Titcombe bury her and mummy said no she is buried in the churchyard and I said I know that but did he dig the hole. and Freddie said when she died you had a big party, can we have a party for Charlie after we've helped Titcombe bury her and mummy said oh look there's Ruth and Ben and Josh.
at playtime I saw a ant in the playground and I trod on it and it was dead so I put it under a leaf.
this is a picture of Charlie she is alive in the picture.
