Palmerston
In 1855 at the age of 71 Palmerston became Prime Minister. He took charge of the Crimean War and proved to be a good war leader. Palmerston and Queen Victoria laid aside their differences. Palmerston even changed his mind about Prince Albert deciding that he was a thoughtful adviser and Victoria was lucky to have him. Palmerston became a favoured statesman, Victoria awarded him the Garter.
