Rebellion in Russia & Balfour Resigns
1905 saw the first major revolution in Russia. In London Balfour and Chamberlain joined forces against the Liberal Free Traders. The Liberals forced a vote and Balfour resigned and the Liberal leader Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman became Prime Minister on a point of constitutional procedure.

Alfred Einstein published his theory of relativity and the first aspirins went on sale. Binet introduced his Intelligence Test. Two Frenchmen flew over the Channel in a hot-air balloon landing at Crystal Palace. By popular request, Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes returned from the dead in 1905
