Education
Black boys and education 24 Mar 2006
This week鈥檚 government commissioned report by the Equality Review has highlighted certain key areas in society where inequality is most problematic, and it includes the high levels of Bangladeshi and Afro-Caribbean boys being excluded from school, and their low levels of attainment, particularly in primary school.

The Review was chaired by Trevor Phillips who caused controversy this time last year with his assertion that black boys in particular are being failed by the education system. He suggested they might do better if educated separately.

Another radical solution to the problem is to bow out of the British schools system altogether and send them abroad. Anna Bailey met one group of parents in North London which is so disillusioned with the way their sons are doing at school that they鈥檙e looking to send them instead to Ghana and Nigeria.
