Ìý Novelist Heather McGowan's Wednesday 22 August 2001 Ìý
Novelist Heather McGowan's book Schooling has been hailed as 'the most original American fiction debut in recent years'.

It's the story of a 13 year old American girl sent to a British boarding school after the death of her mother.
Written as stream of consciousness and occasionally in the form of a play, it highlights the loneliness of boarding school, particularly as an outsider.
She explains how her own experiences of a British boarding school influenced the story and why she chose such a mix of literary styles.
Schooling (Faber and Faber, ISBN: 0-571-20651-4, £10.99).
