The guidelines which judges refer to when sentencing rapists have remained unchanged for fifteen years.

But the government's advisers have announced a major consultation to take into account how the law should be changed.
Should the offence of date rape carry a higher or a lower sentence? What about rape within marriage - are there any grounds for it to be treated less seriously than rape by a stranger? And should the crime of male rape be treated in the same way as the rape of a woman?
Professor Martin Wasik, Chairman of the Sentencing Advisory Panel, and Professor Sue Lees, legal expert at University of North London, join in the discussion.
