Women-only shortlists |

The Goverment has just launched a bill to allow political parties the right to women only candidate shortlists at election time. Their aim is to increase the number of women in Parilament and other elected bodies in the UK.
In 1996 the move was deemed illegal, after two labour male activists took the Party to court. The Government now plan to change the Sex Discrimination Act to prevent further legal challenges.
Women's minister Sally Morgan explains why they will try and persist with the controversial measures.
