Drugs relaxation Thursday 4 April 2002
Is the legalisation of Britain's drug laws the only new way forward in the war against addiction and crime?

The last obstacle to the relaxation of Britain's cannabis laws are due to be cleared this month, as the Common's Home Affairs Select Committee is due to back plans to downgrade the classification of the drug.
As MPs consider relaxation of Britain's drug's laws, Jenni is joined by Fulton Gillespie, whose son died of a heroin overdose to discuss how he believes his son would still be alive today, had the drug been legal. Has the war on drugs failed? And should current laws be replaced by an attack on poverty and joblessness instead?
