Abortion in Northern Ireland Monday 7 July 2003
The law governing abortions in Northern Ireland dates back to the 19th century and it's far from clear as to which circumstances allow for a legal termination.

With confusion surrounding the issue, many women are refused terminations and are forced to travel to mainland Britain where they must pay for the procedure themselves.
This morning the High Court there is to rule on whether the law on abortion should be clarified in Northern Ireland. The case was brought by the director of the Family Planning Association there, Audrey Simpson who joins Jenni to explain why they brought the case.
