Sexual Offences Bill Thursday 20 November 2003
It's estimated by the United Nations that 2 million women are trafficked globally. No-one knows how many are bought and sold into Britain's brothels and massage parlours, but the Metropolitan Police believe some 75% of the capital's prostitutes are foreign.

Today the Sexual Offences Bill will be enacted and it contains proposals for dealing with the problem of buying and selling women and children for sex. Prime target are the traffickers and the offence will carry a maximum fourteen year prison sentence.
Jenni speaks to the Home Office Minister for Immigration, Beverley Hughes and asks why have government decided to concentrate their efforts on the pimps and traffickers?
