Tory women candidates Monday 23 February 2004
Kensington and Chelsea Conservatives are meeting this week to choose a successor for Michael Portillo who won't be standing at the next election. Currently only 8% of Conservative MPs are women and since the last election Central Office has introduced measures to try and increase this number.

In the first of a series of reports on the selection of women by the main political parties, and with a general election likely in 2005. Just how successful are the Tory party being in choosing women to stand as MPs?
