What is Freeview?

Freeview is the name of the UK's digital terrestrial television service,听delivered to your home through an aerial.听You do not need to subscribe to听Freeview but you must have a TV licence.


Freeview is a joint venture between UK broadcasters, including 大象传媒 and ITV.听 You can receive it听on a range of devices, including televisions, set top boxes and PVRs (personal video recorders).

Freeview television and radio services are broadcast around the UK using a number of multiplexes. Three multiplexes have the main UK channels, which include those from the 大象传媒, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel Five, and are available to 98.5% of households in the UK.听

There are also three commercial听multiplexes available to up to 90% of households, two commercial multiplexes available to up to听63% of households and a number of local TV听multiplexes. Our guide to Freeview multiplexes has more information.
