Birth of a calf - a 2am heefer's calf no less!!

Erlend and I came home around 2am after another evening of first footing only to find that a first-calving heefer had gone into labor! The poor girl needed some help so Erlend calved her while I was able to get some pictures!

Ho ho! You are soooo funny! I highly doubt the NHS is so bad that I'll be laying on a bed of stray in the byre! (BTW I asked the heefer's permission before I took the photos. She said she didn't mind as long as I made sure not to show her face and thus kept her identity a secret.) (And note the angle of the photos - I tried my best to protect her modesty.) The wee bull calf is doing very well! He looks a LOT better now then he did when I took these photos haha!

What breed o calf / heefer? My other half was out calving a Montbeliard (no sure about the spelling) on the farm last night.
