~ Autumn Leaf ~

How the Autumn leaf

Awaits the fall

Of so many.

Discarded are they

Cast off along the way

Of roads and pavements

And often blocking drains.

autumn leaf

Nature needs

To shed it's old

No longer needed

Discard the old.

Soon the trees

Will be barren

And cold

Darkened

By day

Evil by night.

Soon the

Autumn leaf

Shall no longer be

In sight.

Autumn, my favourite month !! The leaves turning gold and red as nature gently goes to sleep. You are very talented and a real credit to island blogging. Look forward to reading more of your unique poems.

"And often blocking drains" - a line that bids to become as immortal as Tenneyson's famous "And down the line the electric message came She is no better, she is much the same".

Barney from Swithiod spoilsport

As you well know, Tennyson's words were in fact (in the revised edition): "She is no better, she is much too tame." Of course, the "she" did not/ could not refer to Chrissie Mary Morrison (I have to take Calum.'s word for this).
