Tickets are typically either allocated on a first-come first-served basis, or by random draw. The allocation approach for each show will be clearly explained on the show鈥檚 application page.
First-come first-served: Ticket requests are added to the list of applicants, and all eligible requests are allocated tickets in the order they are received, up to the maximum number of available tickets.
Random draw: Applications are accepted until the publicised closing date/time. Once the random draw has closed all eligible requests are entered into聽the draw.聽Popular shows will usually adopt this approach as the fairest way to allocate tickets when demand is very high.
Local weighting: Occasionally, a portion of the tickets for a show will be reserved for local audiences. This will be clear on the application page. Production teams make the decision about whether any local weighting is appropriate.
Short notice distribution of returned tickets: Please note that we may occasionally allocate tickets to local applicants when availability arises at short notice. This can occur if ticket holders cancel close to the recording date or if extra capacity is made available at the venue. In these instances, prioritising local applicants helps ensure tickets can be used at short notice, minimising the inconvenience of last-minute planning for those requiring travel or accommodation, and the frustration of being unable to make short notice plans for those attending from further away.
