Areas such as the wash are in danger of severe flooding Experts are predicting dramatic impacts to the UK based on the levels of climate change predicted in our experiment.
- Rising temperatures will cause problems to the way we live. We will have to adapt what we grow and eat. Communities built on floodplains may experience more flooding. In cities, sewers may not be able to cope with the increased amount of rainfall.
- Nature too will be affected. Salmon and ptarmigan are among the species at risk.
- Rising sea levels and more storms may lead to an increase in storm surges. If our Thames defences are overtopped, central London could be flooded. Other communities may be considered not worth protecting from rising sea levels, and will have to be abandoned.
