Picture
ID - s12611
Known info - Unidentified
Road, Flower Estate, High Wincobank - NOT Primrose Avenue or Jasamine
Road.
Your suggestions so far:
Alison Wells - I could be completely wrong as the dates don't
seem quite right, but.... the house in the far left of the picture
which is painted white on the top half, looks very much like my
house. I live on the corner of Newman Road and Jenkin Road. If it
is my house, then the road you want to identify would be Hyacinth
Road.
The thing that worries me is that my house was built in 1927ish
but I think the ones on Jenkin which are opposite me are older than
this. In which case, the 2 white houses shouldn't be there!!! I
think Wincobank Hall would have stood where the grass is on the
left which is Wincobank Avenue.
Byron Cowling - untill you said its not primrose i would
have swore it was as i live at 67. but looking at it again it could
be the end of bluebell road as i know some houses leading to the
hill (known as the tip end now) were bombed during the war. the
third set of houses in the middle look very much like the beginning
of daffodil road on the odd side.
Byron Cowling - Mmm, Im not sure If your right in saying
not primrose. Tthe houses in the foreground are too much like the
houses on the corner of primrose and jessamine and the houses second
left with the distinctive sloping roofs would then be just before
the corner of foxglove road. The houses first left also coinside
with the houses on the bend of bracken road directly facing the
old shiregreen school gates. Also the houses that are now inbetween
the houses are of a different desighn and are all the simerlar to
the corparation houses built in the thirties like the ones on daffodil
road and shirecliff. i can send you some modern photo graphs of
what i think these houses are.
