Brian Lingard RE: Jim Frost's comments. The boy that hanged himself at Wincobank
went to Owler Lane school and had run away from home with a friend.
The day of his death was the first day he should have gone back
to school, around 1952/3 I think. Could the name be Johnson?
Richard Moffat I lived in Whitworth Lane, Attercliffe in the 1930s. Cottages
next to Vicarage on the common opposite the lane, or those opposite
Clay Street.
Julie Skelton - This building was next to the vestry building
on Attercliffe.
Harold Smith - I think this was opposite The Globe Cinema on
Attercliffe Common
David Gautier - HAVE SEEN THIS PICTURE IN A BOOK - THE BOOK
COULD BE TITLED STUART AND TUDOR SHEFFIELD. tHIS IS A SMALL PAPERBACK
BOOK
ron baines in australia - could be where bill linsay lived
off zion lane back of attercliffe common.
Jim Frost - This may be cottages on Melville Rd and next
to Richard Wraggs first woodyard (high gable wall on the left).Just
off Broughton Lane, and is now the Arena car park. If its correct,
a son of the family in the right hand cottage passed his scholarship
to Firth Park Grammar, but tragically hanged himself on goalposts
at Wincobank.
