Zane Duquemin has missed out on Great Britain's Olympic discus squad despite throwing his best distance in four years at his final qualification event.

The 24-year-old from Jersey, who also competes in the shot put, threw 62.28m in Sweden on Monday but fell short.

Duquemin was named 2015 Jersey Sports Person of the Year in March and won the British discus title in 2014.

"[It was] my second best ever but unfortunately it's not enough," said the Island Games double record-holder.

He added "Big thanks to all those who have supported me over the last four years despite it not always going to plan.

"Looks like I'm in this weird and wonderful sport for another four years."
