Crewe Alexandra chairman John Bowler relishes club structure

Chairman John Bowler has praised the interaction between key managerial figures at Crewe Alexandra.

Steve Davis and assistant Neil Baker replaced Dario Gradi in the Alex hot seat in November 2011, with Gradi becoming director of football.

Crewe have since gone from 18th to eighth and are only outside the League Two play-off places on goal difference.

"We see them having a long-term future here. This is where we want them to be," Bowler told

Before working as an assistant to Gudjon Thordarson and then Gradi at Crewe, Davis had led Nantwich Town to two promotions in three seasons and victory in the FA Vase.

Davis initially replaced Baker as assistant manager when he joined in 2009, with Baker moved to a scouting position.

"They're both very capable men," Bowler added. "They've both shown in the past what they have been capable of doing at other clubs and they are very ambitious people themselves.

"They want to become a part of what this club is all about. Steve and Neil are very much involved with what goes on in the academy and in the youth system.

"The two of them are working very well together. They have a very good relationship with Dario.

"There's a lot of positives here and a lot to be proud of and I hope that the two of them will take us on to bigger things."

Bowler is keen not to lose his star team to bigger clubs and is hopeful he can offer them everything they need to fulfil their potential at Gresty Road.

"As far as Neil and Steve are concerned we've got to give them the incentive to stay here," he added.

"We've got to give them the material to work with and we've got to hopefully achieve success together because that's what drives these people on."
