FC Halifax Town 1-2 Ebbsfleet United

  • Published

New signing Corey Whitely scored on his debut to help Ebbsfleet claim a comeback win over FC Halifax.

Whitely was signed from Dagenham and Redbridge on Friday for an undisclosed fee and he started on the bench at The Shay.

However, with Ebbsfleet trailing to a penalty - won and scored by Matty Kosylo - Whitely was thrown into fray at half-time and needed just 10 minutes to open his account for the club when he tapped in from close range.

Luke Coulson was involved in the build-up to that goal, and it was he who netted what would prove to be the winner five minutes later, the forward heading in his second goal in successive games.

Halifax, without a league win in 2018, had chances to equalise but they could find no way past Nathan Ashmore as Ebbsfleet held on to boost their play-off hopes.
