FC Halifax Town 2-1 Solihull Moors
- Published
Liam McAlinden fired Halifax into second place in the National League with a brace in a 2-1 victory over Solihull at The Shay.
The former Republic of Ireland youth international put the hosts in front after 15 minutes, beating Ryan Boot with a deflected strike at the end of a counter-attacking move.
Solihull enjoyed plenty of possession without causing Sam Johnson too many problems in the first half and they were punished again early in the second period.
McAlinden capped a fine run with a strike into the bottom-right corner off the inside of the post for his fifth goal of the season.
Alex Nicholls pulled one back for Solihull after Jeff King had squandered an opportunity to stretch the hosts' lead further and later saw an equaliser ruled out for offside.
