Defender John Egan has left Sheffield United at the end of his contract after six seasons at Bramall Lane.

The 31-year-old Republic of Ireland international joined the Blades from Brentford for £4m in July 2018 and twice helped them win promotion to the Premier League.

He made a total of 208 league appearances but had not featured since he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury at West Ham in September 2023.

"The memories we have made will live with me forever," he said in a statement

The contract for forward Oli McBurnie has also expired after joining the club from Swansea on a four-year contract in 2019.

The 28-year-old scored 29 times across his 159 appearances for the Blades, however the club say that "conversations with his representatives will continue."

Forward Daniel Jebbison and midfielder Ben Osborn are also departing the club following the conclusion of their contracts, with the latter signing for Derby last month.
