Great Britain legend Matthew Myers retires from international ice hockey

Matthew Myers scored 22 goals and 21 assists for 43 points during his GB career
Great Britain forward Matthew Myers has retired from international ice hockey.
Cardiff-born Myers, 39, played in 19 World Championship tournaments and five Olympic Qualifiers.
"It has been an honour to play for GB and I have loved every minute of it," said Myers.
"The successes we have had always make me smile, the memories make me happy. I am going to miss that GB atmosphere, the laughs and the jokes."
Myers - who last season played for Pingouins de Morzine-Avoriaz in FFHG Division 1, the second tier of French ice hockey - won 17 domestic titles with Cardiff Devils and Nottingham Panthers.
He made 114 appearances for his country, putting him only two behind record appearance maker Jonathan Phillips.
The forward was part of GB's gold medal-winning campaigns in Belfast (2017), Hungary (2018) and Nottingham (2023) while he also won three silver medals and one bronze.
GB head coach Pete Russell said: "Matthew has been an outstanding servant through his GB career at all levels.
"He is a bull and played a style of game that not many guys play any more. Personally, I was really fortunate to have had him on our roster for so many years.
"He was so proud of playing for his country and it's been a pleasure to be on the journey with him."
