Elite League leaders Cardiff Devils maintained their impressive start to the season with victory over Manchester Storm at the Vindico Arena.

Devils held out to claim their seventh win in eight league games.

A tense and goalless opening period against Storm ended with Devils' Riley Brandt handed a 20-minute penalty for checking to the Head.

Storm took the lead six minutes into the second period when Grant Hebert broke the deadlock, though only after a referee's review.

Devils struck back twice to take the lead, first through Josh MacDonald and then a powerplay goal by Zach O'Brien, before extending their lead when Tyler Busch netted in the final period.

Alex D'Aoust pulled back a late goal 90 seconds from time to set up a frantic finale but Devils held out for another win.

Devils were due back on the ice on Sunday in the Challenge Cup at Coventry Blaze. But the game was postponed after Blaze's flight the morning after beating Belfast Giants on Saturday was cancelled amid the impact of Storm Ashley.

A new date for the postponed game has yet to be announced.
