Some nice words from the Mirror's Darren Lewis here.

Not sure where I exactly stand on this. England have probably rekindled the inner school kid in me during this tournament...reminding me hugely of 1990.

David: Watched the game this morning Sydney time! I feel proud of the team but disappointed as this could have been our year.

Josh: Disappointed but not disheartened. To get to a world cup semi final under a manager in the job for less then a year and a squad which has an average age of 24 is an immense achievement! Future looking very bright.

Andrew: England showed great spirit but are lacking star players. Had their route been Japan, Brazil then France I highly doubt we would have got past the quarters. It's not enough to have likeable, modest players, you need absolute quality for a major tournament.

This was a nice touch as well.

The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William has of course been the president of the Football Association since 2006.

So how are we all feeling today? Where did you watch England lose to Croatia and what's your mood like now?

Crestfallen, gutted, frustrated or optimistic for the future?

Feel free to drop me a line.

Regarding my previous entry. By my working out then England have averaged a semi-final every 13 years since 1966.

There's also a slight pattern to it all....

    • 2 years
    • 22 years
    • 6 years
    • 22 years

Definitely an intro for a GCSE Mathematics question perhaps.....?

As big tournament failures go dare I say last night was typically English.

A swirl of excitement, a smattering of hope, a soft goal or two and an agonising finale.

Still what a ride. It was good while it lasted.

    Good morning. Well sort of.

Where to start - it very much feels like the morning after the night before to me at the moment.

Wasn't football meant to be coming home? No. Just England, I'm afraid.
