It was end-to-end in the opening minutes before Nigeria took control of the possession and started dominating the match.

Their determination was rewarded by the opening goal. Cameroon then mounted a fight back that was helped by some poor defending most notably Kenneth Omeruo.

Nigeria need to make sure that their passing in the final third is much better so that their attackers can be more of a threat.

A slow start, Nigeria take the lead, before Cameroon respond with a bang!

Will the Super Eagles respond?

Cameroon can have few complaints - Nigeria have been the better side so far.

There's been little evidence the goal would sting the Indomitable Lions into a swift response.

Half an hour gone and the only shot on target means it is advantage Super Eagles.

A rare chance for Cameroon but Pierre Kunde fires wildly over the bar.

Kunde is frustrated and moments later he is booked for a lunge on Peter Etebo which leaves the Nigeria player thumping the turf with his hand in pain.

Nigeria's determination led to that goal. After a poor free-kick they made sure the ball got into the area and caused problems. Ighalo did well to get his foot to a ball that came at him quickly.

Are the reigning champions on their way out?

Cameroon have work to do to stay in the tournament but they are struggling to create chances.

Clarence Seedorf looks frustrated. His side has not scored since their opening game of the tournament.

First serious chance of the game - and it falls to Cameroon!

Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui times his run to perfection to meet a corner but he can't keep his header down and it flies over.

This tie was billed as a blockbuster but it has yet to get going.

Neither keeper has been tested - too many loose passes and both teams are sloppy in possession.

A quickly taken Nigeria corner almost catches Cameroon out but Alex Iwobi's finish from the edge of the penalty area is tame - and wide.

This is like a game of chess!

After a frantic start we have reached the 10 minute mark without a single shot.

Cameroon, who are wearing yellow and red, are bossing possession.

Away to my right the fans of Cameroon have all dressed up and arranged themselves to represent the national flag - for Nigeria the drums and trumpets are at full blast.

Peter Etebo goes in HARD on Georges Mandjeck and the Nigeria player gets himself a stern telling off from the referee for doing so.

He's lucky to escape a yellow card.

This is a very nice stadium. The main stand looks more like a villa and at one end we have a very nice arch with some ancient Olympic style pictures on them.

Then at the opposite end in one corner is the ancient ruin of a castle - after all this is the oldest stadium in Africa built in a city founded in the time of Alexander the Great.

It is also a smaller stadium and even though it has an athletics track round it (covered with a blue carpet) it feels more intimate than the stadiums in Cairo.

Its compactness also means more of an atmosphere created by the limited fans in here.

On paper this looks a real clash of the African heavyweights - but neither team has impressed at this tournament yet!
