  1. Goodnight from Walespublished at 22:14 British Summer Time 30 March 2021

    FT: Wales 1-0 Czech Republic

Well that's about all we have time for after another nerve-shredding night for Wales fans.

The side has responded really well to losing to Belgium and this result, coupled with the win over Mexico on 'Chris Gunter night' has basically ensured a successful international break for Wales, at least in terms of their World Cup ambitions.

It was a fractious game with two red cards, arguably neither of which needed to be given, but Wales will be delighted to have ground out three points on a night they were never at their best.

In future years I am absolutely certain Wales fans will recall Daniel James' first headed goal and Joe Rodon's incredible block with great fondness.

    A big, big result.

Thank you for following along with us.

  4. Rodon's block 'as good as a goal' - Pagepublished at 22:10 British Summer Time 30 March 2021

    FT: Wales 1-0 Czech Republic

Wales' caretaker manager Robert Page told Sky Sports: "We're disappointed by aspects of the performance but it's a win.

"We found the way to win, we knew we were in for a battle and they were a threat constantly.

"They had six up front at times and a massive aerial threat in the box.

"If a crowd would have been here, that goal, everyone would have been buzzing.

"In the 90 minutes I think we had the clear cut chances and thankfully we took one at the end.

"The cards changed the game, we wanted to get another forward on so we brought Kieffer Moore on and he helped our physical presence.

"Then we had Connor Roberts sent off and had to shuffle again so it was a squad performance.

"Defenders pride themselves in those sort of performances, they would have enjoyed those last few minutes, and Joe Rodon's block at the end is as good as a goal.

"Three points so far is a great return considering the players not here, you bring those players back and there are bigger and better things to come."

Wales defender James Lawrence told Sky Sports: "We put our bodies on the line and do anything we can do to get the win.

"We know the first half wasn't great but we still went in goalless at the break.

"Joe at the end, what a fantastic tackle, I've had a bit of a chip on my shoulder since Croatia away last summer so it means a lot to show everyone what I could do.

"What a quality bit of play from Gareth on the touchline, what a great whip, and what a great header from DJ [Daniel James].

"That's what happens in these sort of games, you need to show things outside your skillset.

"Thank you to the FAW for fighting to get me here, it's a fantastic feeling to be here, play the 90 minutes and get the win."

  7. 'The win is just what we needed' - Balepublished at 21:54 British Summer Time 30 March 2021

    FT: Wales 1-0 Czech Republic

Wales forward Gareth Bale told Sky Sports: "It was a massive result, we didn't get off to the best start against Belgium so it was massively important to get the win tonight.

"We showed a lot of heart and desire to match a very physical team.

"It was very chaotic, especially second half, but we were ready and kept going until the end and most important thing is to get that winner.

"We need to win games to qualify and we want to win every game, football doesn't always go the way you expect it to.

"Pagey has kept us focused despite what is going on off the field.

鈥淭he win is just what we needed. We were focused and we stuck to our gameplan and got the win.鈥

Wales' match winner Dan James told Sky Sports: "It's a massive result, huge. After the loss in the first game we knew we needed to pick our head up.

"I have been a bit disappointed with some headers at club level, but thankfully that one went in.

"I think when we got the goal we always believed we could go on and get the win.

"I give so much credit to Joe Rodon for that block at the end, it's just as much as I got the goal, that's a goal for him."

  9. Goals aplenty across Europepublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 30 March 2021

    FT: Wales 1-0 Czech Republic

There were plenty of goals in the European section of World Cup qualifying tonight.

Let's start with Belgium, who put eight past Belarus, with Leandro Trossard, Michy Batshuayi and Christian Benteke amongst the scorers. They top Group E with seven points.

The Netherlands were at it too, netting seven times against Gibraltar. Gini Wijnaldum and Donny van der Beek were both on the scoresheet, to leave their side second in Group G behind Turkey, who drew 3-3 with Latvia.

Portugal trailed in Luxembourg with half-time approaching, but Diogo Jota's header before the break and goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Palhinha after it turned the game around.

You can see all tonight's scores here.

  13. FULL-TIME - Wales 1-0 Czech Republicpublished at 21:35 British Summer Time 30 March 2021

Wales hold on for a huge, huge win.

    My word, what a finish.

  14. Postpublished at 90+3 mins

    Wales 1-0 Czech Republic

One... It was as good as a goal.

Two... It was the best block for Wales since Ben Davies in the first game of the Euros....

  15. CLOSE!published at 90+3 mins

    Wales 1-0 Czech Republic

What a block by Joe Rodon! Unreal!

He's somehow blocked a goal-bound shot from just over six yards out.

    Incredible!

  16. Postpublished at 90+2 mins

    Wales 1-0 Czech Republic

Wales' defenders have been superb tonight. Joe Rodon is heading everything in sight.

If a UFO landed at the Cardiff City Stadium now I think he'd try and head it clear of goal.

  17. Postpublished at 90+1 mins

    Wales 1-0 Czech Republic

We will have four minutes of added on time.

They will be a long four minutes if you're a Wales fan.

  18. Postpublished at 89 mins

    Wales 1-0 Czech Republic

Wales have been far from their best but are edging towards what would be a really, really big win.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 87 mins

    Wales 1-0 Czech Republic

Matej Vydra of Burnley is on for West Ham's Vladimir Coufal as Czech Republic send a striker on for a defender.

It's all claret to me, however.

  20. Relief for Portugalpublished at 86 mins

    Wales 1-0 Czech Republic

Portugal are home and dry. Joao Palhinha has glanced in a header to make it 3-1 in Luxembourg.

However, it is now very much in the balance between Turkey and Latvia, with Davis Ikaunieks levelling for the latter. It's 3-3.
