It all comes down to today for two of the Championship's biggest clubs.

Despite the pretty filthy weather there were quite a few Rams fans gathered outside the stadium when I got here.

They will be desperately hoping their side can avoid a first relegation to the third tier since 1986.

For Wednesday, relegation today would end a nine-year spell back at this level.

While most of the focus is on Rotherham at the Cardiff City Stadium this afternoon, there is a notable selection by the hosts in their team.

Their stalwart centre-back Sol Bamba has been named among the substitutes for the first time since he confirmed in January he had been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and was receiving chemotherapy.

The music is absolutely booming in here right now.

It's become a bit of a cliche but you can't help but think about what this ground would be like if it was packed with over 30,000 very nervous fans.

Derby's forwards have just been going through a shooting drill in front of me.

The Rams have scored a division-low 33 goals all season, so they really need someone to turn it on today.

Swansea City, Bournemouth and Barnsley are all vying for position in the play-offs.

Brentford have already secured third place and home advantage in the second leg of the semi-finals.

Swansea need just a point at promoted Watford to finish fourth.

Bournemouth will pip the Swans to fourth on goal difference if they beat Stoke and the Welsh side fall to defeat at Vicarage Road.

Barnsley face champions Norwich. The Tykes know they will avoid Brentford, and face Swansea instead, if they better Bournemouth's result.

We'll mostly be concentrating on the relegation battle, but here's a full run-down of all of today's Championship fixtures.

It's been a tricky season for Rotherham United, who have one of the smallest budgets in the division and have had to contend with a fixture back-log.

The Millers have been playing catch-up after two coronavirus outbreaks at the club caused a string of postponements.

The South Yorkshire club played nine times last month, but only picked up four points as they suffered seven defeats.

With draws in their past two outings, they failed to gain much ground on Derby County.

A win in a must for Rotherham, then they need Sheffield Wednesday to do them a favour.

Hosts Cardiff saw their play-off bid go up in smoke in March and April, but Mick McCarthy's side have recovered to win their past two games in a five-match unbeaten run.

At Pride Park, 90 minutes will define the season for Derby and Sheffield Wednesday, and possibly the two clubs' respective futures.

For Rams boss Wayne Rooney, he could have a relegation on his fledgling CV in his first managerial job.

Derby, who have made the play-offs in three off the past four seasons, could find themselves back third tier for the first time since 1985-86.

Wednesday are paying the price for a six-point deduction for breaching financial rules, and a season of managerial upheaval at Hillsborough.

The Owls have had three different permanent bosses, a set of caretakers and then a stand-in while incumbent Darren Moore recovers from Covid-19 and pneumonia.

Derby are in rotten form, having lost their past six games. The Rams have one win in their past 14 outings.

Wednesday have only lost one of their past four, but only have one win in that timeframe too.

This match could be torture supporters, but neutrals will no doubt enjoy the viewing.

Take a deep breath. Here's what each club needs to stay in the Championship:

Derby County

• The Rams know a win over Sheffield Wednesday would be enough to keep them up.
• Derby will also stay up if they draw and Rotherham fail to beat Cardiff.
• Defeat will consign the Rams to relegation to League One.

Rotherham United

• The Millers have to beat Cardiff, and also need to better Derby's result.

Sheffield Wednesday

• The Owls must beat Derby County to stay up. The Hillsborough side then need Rotherham to drop points.

Wycombe Wanderers

• The Chairboys have to beat Middlesbrough and then need two other results to go their way. Gareth Ainsworth's men also require Rotherham to drop points and Sheffield Wednesday to beat Derby. Then they also need to beat Wednesday's winning margin by 12 (yes, TWELVE) goals.

The final day fixture list has thrown up a relegation showdown at Pride Park, where Derby County host Sheffield Wednesday.

Rotherham United travel to Cardiff City, who have won their past two and could secure a seventh-placed finish.

Bottom club Wycombe Wanderers aren't mathematically down, but need to pull several rabbits out of a hat at Middlesbrough.

After 45 games of a relentless Championship season, the relegation battle has come down to the final day.

All three spots in the drop zone will be decided on the final day, although bottom club Wycombe need a miracle to remain in the second tier.

Fans of Derby County, Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday will face a nail-biting 90 minutes of football, with one of those clubs set to avoid slipping into League One.
