Brit watch
Friday's cross-country 15km men's classic (07:00) falls between Andrew Musgrave's focus on longer-distance events and the preference of James Clugnet and Andrew Young for sprints.
Women's skeleton begins with runs one and two at 01:30 and 03:00. Laura Deas returns for Team GB following her bronze medal-winning performance in Pyeongchang, joined this time by Olympic debutant Brogan Crowley.
Friday's curling pits GB's men against the US (01:05) and Norway (12:05), while the women face South Korea (06:05).

Strolz hadn't finished an alpine combined race since 2019 and, although he had recorded his two best senior slalom results ever this year (1st and 5th), his inconsistency in finishing World Cup slalom races put him just 13th on the Gracenote Podium Ranking for slalom.
The Gracenote Podium Ranking for alpine combined had him in 31st spot prior to today's event.

Germany have won all four Olympic gold medals in luge, just as they did in 2014. Beijing 2022 is the sixth Olympics at which Germany has won every gold medal in luge, following 1972, 1976, 1988, 1998 and 2014.
Four years ago, Germany finished one short of all the luge gold medals, missing out in the men's event.
Two-thirds of Germany's six gold medals in Beijing have been won in luge. Denise Herrmann (biathlon) and Vinzenz Geiger (nordic combined) won the other two golds.

Men's ice hockey
Canada and the United States might not have their NHL stars but it isn't impacting them too much in their opening men's group matches.
Canada are ranked as the world's leading side but devoid of their best players by the NHL's decision to not allow its players to participate.
However, they're still looking too strong for Germany and are leading 4-1 at the end of the second period.
The US, expected to be hampered by the NHL block even more than Canada, are 4-0 ahead against China.
There have long been fears that China's men aren't competitive at Olympic level - despite reports of the host nation building hundreds of ice rinks and training thousands of players in a bid to change that after being awarded the Games.

By 8/100ths of a second, the golden German team make a clean sweep of the luge events.

Latvia are pulling away with a great line - and that should be enough for the bronze at worst... with Austria and Germany to come.

Here come the Italians....ranked fourth after Andrea Voetter's opening run they finish in the provisional silver medal position.
Not for long mind. Kristers Aparjods rockets down the course to put the Latvians right in the mix.
Hold on....Martins Bots and Roberts Plume have put Latvia in the lead and guaranteed them a medal.

The USA are up next but let things slip in the doubles to finish over half a second behind the Canadians.
However, the Russian Olympic Committee side are flying and come through to take the lead.

More from the British quartet after they beat the reigning Olympic champions...
Jen Dodds: "The fourth end was a real turning point, we got on top of our draw weight and trusted it was going to curl, especially from the left hand side of the sheet.
"Vicki's shot and my draw put them under a wee bit of pressure and that was the difference."
Hailey Duff: "It felt really good to get that first win and it was a step up from this morning which is what we wanted. We put the pressure on and it felt really natural out there."

Team GB are talking to 大象传媒 Sport, following their convincing win over defending Olympic champions Sweden:
Eve Muirhead: "We played a great game out there today We kept things very similar and upped the shot-play a little bit.
"To take down the current Olympic champions in such a convincing game is very nice to finish off the day."
Will Vicky Wright's patients be watching back home?
Vicky Wright: Some of the staff were going to put it on the TV for them to watch so I'm sure they were cheering on the ward.
"It was a really good game. It felt very similar to this morning and we had to put a similar performance on.
"We definitely upped the shot-play so its nice to come out with a win."
Back to Eve Muirhead looking ahead to the rest of the competition:
Muirhead: "That was our busiest day. We can take each day at a time and each game at a time and tomorrow we have Korea, so we know that's going to be tough as well.
"We're out here to perform well, we're out here to enjoy it. We definitely are enjoying it and we plan to do that all week."

Eve Muirhead is so determined and focussed on what she wants - and she will do everything to get it. She's grown as a skip to manage her team and to bring them forward.
She's much more mature in her skipping ability.
After Covid came along and they had to come off the ice, she recovered really well from a hip injury to rehab and she's come back even stronger than before.
Irene Schouten is emerging as one of the stars of these Games.
The Dutchwoman added 5,000m gold to 3,000m success earlier today and will try and make it a hat-trick in the mass start later this week.

There was no way back for Sweden and it is a great win. It all revolved around that fourth end. There were some errors from the Swedish skip - you have to say that. Enough is enough, and the Olympic champions have been well trounced.
