Why are we doing this and how can you participate?
大象传媒 Teach is required to process your personal data in order to add your details to a mailing list for emails containing supporting information regarding your school鈥檚 registration and participation in 大象传媒 micro:bit - the next gen. This mailing list is held on behalf of 大象传媒 Teach by a third party, our supplier The Education Company, which is also responsible for sending out the emails.

What personal data will 大象传媒 collect and how will we use it?
大象传媒 Teach is working with our partner Micro:bit Educational Foundation to deliver 大象传媒 micro:bit - the next gen.

When you apply to register your school for 大象传媒 micro:bit - the next gen, Micro:bit Educational Foundation will collect your registration information. On completion of the registration form, Micro:bit Educational Foundation will pass your name, role, work email address, and school address, to The Education Company which will use this information to add you to the mailing list for the 大象传媒 micro:bit - the next gen supporting emails.

As set out above, the personal data you provide which will be shared with 大象传媒 Teach will be:

Who is the Data Controller?
The 大象传媒 is the 鈥渄ata controller鈥 of this personal data. This means that the 大象传媒 decides what your personal data is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. For the avoidance of doubt, your personal data will be collected and processed solely for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. As the data controller, the 大象传媒 has the responsibility to comply, and to demonstrate compliance with, data protection law.

Micro:bit Educational Foundation will also act as a separate data controller in respect of the personal data processed as part of the services that it provides to you. The 大象传媒 will retain the mailing list data until December 2024, after which time it will be deleted.

It is important that you read this notice so that you are aware of how and why we are using such personal data. This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal data about you during and after your relationship with us, in accordance with data protection law.

Why are we doing this and how can you participate?
大象传媒 micro:bit 鈥 the next gen invites teachers to share images of their class undertaking the 大象传媒 micro:bit playground survey.

You may share pictures from your class taking part in the 大象传媒 micro:bit playground survey, which may include photos of you and your pupils recording data in the playground using the micro:bit and work completed by your class, such as tallies, tables or artwork that have been made during your playground survey lessons. These pictures will be sent to us using an online platform used by the 大象传媒 and then shared on our website, social media platforms and newsletters.

If we wish to use one of the images provided by you, we will send you a material release form for the image, along with a Child-No Fee Contributor Release Form. You will be asked to provide the parents of the children featured in the images, with this Privacy Notice and the Contributor Release Form, to sign and return. The signed Material Release Form, and the Contributor Release Form would then need to be sent to us to demonstrate approval.

When you contribute to the 大象传媒, we may use your contribution in our campaigns or content, but we cannot promise to use everything that we receive. If we share your contribution, this may include web content including articles and educational content, social media and newsletters.

You must be a primary teacher to send your photos to the 大象传媒 micro:bit team.

The 大象传媒 will collect and process the following personal data about you:

  • Your school
  • Your email address
  • Your lessons, which may include images of you

If your content is not used on the 大象传媒 micro:bit 鈥 the next gen website, social media platforms or newsletters then your personal data, including the emails you have sent to us and images you have uploaded will be deleted within 6 months after the article has been published.

If your contribution is used for an article, social media post or newsletter, your personal data will also be removed within 6 months of the date of publishing.

Your personal data will be stored in the UK and the EEA.
