Carrie and her younger brother Nick are evacuated to Wales to spend the war years with the dour Mr Evans and his sister 'Auntie' Lou. Carrie and Nick spend much of their time at Druid's Bottom - a mysterious house where Hepzibah, the housekeeper, tells them strange stories about skulls and curses. Carrie and Nick settle into their new lives鈥nd then Carrie does something she鈥檒l regret for years to come.

It鈥檚 Carrie鈥檚 birthday and Albert Sandwich kisses her! Mr Evans is cross when they get back because they鈥檙e late.

Carrie and Nick tell Auntie Lou that Major Harper is in the pub and she rushes to join him.

Carrie's War - Episode 7

Mr Evans has been to Druid鈥檚 Bottom and given Hepzibah a month to get out of the house.

Mr Evans gives Carrie a ring as a leaving present, telling her it was left to him by Mrs Gotobed.
