We Are TeessideYou are in: Tees > People > We Are Teesside > A Quaker in Stavanger Neil Johnson A Quaker in StavangerNeil Johnson has one of those jobs that takes him around the world. At the moment, he works in Stavanger in Norway, but still travels back home every couple of weeks, to watch Darlington play.
Help playing audio/video Neil writes, "I have a new Norwegian baby son at the moment, so I've missed a few weekends over Xmas & New Year, with visiting Norwegian family. "I normally commute home for matches twice a month, from whatever country I'm Neil Johnson's "Norwegian Sprog" "My last two visits home in December had matches called off: Morecambe away - nice beers with the DAFTS exiles, but only 22min of game; Chester home - no beers just extra Christmas shopping time....grrrr!" Memorable MishapsBeing locked out by "police intelligence/safety" by mistake when there were only 2600 in Feethams ground, having travelled from Oslo. Travelling one epic weekend from an East Norway mountain top to a Friday night match (0-0) in Exeter and back by coach(8 hours), ferry (19 hours) & driving the final leg (8 hours). Initiating the young 'uns"My other Norwegian sprog, Kristine (now 24) was at her first Darlo match "She was on my shoulders dropping cola and bits of pie down my neck, followed by her (what turned out to be usual) request to go for a pee just as the game was starting. "Darlo scored early and the big nigh-time crowd was roaring and jumping up "I replied that Darlo had scored a goal. Her reply was 'I liked that Daddy! Make them do it again!' "Well we did; twice!" last updated: 07/05/2008 at 15:03 SEE ALSOYou are in: Tees > People > We Are Teesside > A Quaker in Stavanger |
