Alnwick Castle featured in the first two Harry Potter films, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The castle became Hogwarts, the school of witchcraft and wizardry that Harry attended. These cars were in the second film In the first film the broom training scenes and the Quidditch match were both shot against the backdrop of the castle. One of the most stunning scenes in the second film sees Harry crash land a flying car in Alnwick Castle's inner bailey. 14 sky-blue Ford Anglias were used for this amazing flying stunt. The film-makers searched Britain high and low to find the 14 identical vehicles. Small miracleDuring filming the Castle grounds were turned into a small village with marquees, stables and lorries. Alnwick Castle became Hogwarts Over 450 cast and crew were housed in one of the largest film sets ever to be built by Warners in Europe. "A small miracle was performed every day," said location manager Simon King, who organised the movement of cast and crew around the castle grounds. The Castle's stunning interiors also provide backdrops in the second movie. The Guest Hall is the setting for the Hogwarts Library and was rebuilt to be identical to the Bodleian Library in Oxford. last updated: 28/05/2008 at 14:37 SEE ALSOYou are in: Tyne > Entertainment > Hollywood On Tyne > Features > Tinseltoon: Harry Potter
