1953: New discoveries on the moon

One of Britain's leading observers of the moon is Dr. Hugh Percy Wilkins, director of the British Astronomical Association's Lunar Section. He has a homemade telescope in his back garden at Bexleyheath in Kent, and claims to have witnessed a gargantuan, naturally-formed bridge on the moon. Dr Wilkins talks to reporter Bernard Forbes about the structure.

Sadly, the bridge turned out to be illusory - a trick of the light.
