On the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the World Wildlife Fund, John Craven interviews the Duke of Edinburgh, as the International President of the WWF, about how crucial the conservation of species and their habitats is for the world. The interview is intercut with clips of endangered animals and background footage from previous WWF campaigns, such as Operation Tiger.

One year before this interview, John Craven had presented a special programme on the success of the WWF and the Indian government in preserving the Bengal tiger through Project Tiger. This scheme was launched in 1973 and the number of tigers now stands at over 4,000, as opposed to fewer than 2,000 at the start of the project.
