Sir Robert Scott recalls the time when, in preparation for a debate about the likelihood of war in Korea, he was summoned to meet Prime Minister Winston Churchill. What followed was a heated exchange between Churchill and his aide over the inclusion of confidential information in his speech, information that ultimately failed to come to light because of grave news from Sandringham.

Winston Churchill had only been back at 10 Downing Street for just over three months when the above exchange took place. Returning to power in October 1951, he served his second term in office until ill health, including a severe stroke (his second), forced his retirement as prime minister in April 1955. He was succeeded by his friend Anthony Eden, but continued to serve as a Member of Parliament until he stood down at the 1964 general election, just three months prior to his death.

This clip was originally broadcast 18 July 1974.
