In this short interview, George Martin talks about meeting The Beatles for the first time and thinking that they were "interesting and had something slightly different". He goes on to outline his role as a producer and describes the difference between working with a symphony orchestra and a pop band, before discussing The Beatles' musical knowledge and sense of humour. He then, without any hesitation, names his favourite Beatles song (so far).
In an interview with the Observer Music Monthly in 2006, George Martin recalled that his first job after studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama was at the 大象传媒's Music Library. In the same article, he revealed that, before he got to work on it, Please Please Me was performed by The Beatles as a Roy Orbison-style ballad.
Recorded circa June 1964.
