'I was always in corsets': Dame Maggie Smith on being typecast

Iconic actress Dame Maggie Smith has died at the age of 89.

Talking to Barry Norman in 1993, she discussed being typecast as "rather sour" and "faded women" in her contemporary roles.

Before finding fame with her Oscar-winning performances in film, she had an extensive career on stage, where she says she was always more "at ease".

Originally broadcast on Film 93 on the 4 October 1993.
