Often feeling like a well-kept secret denied the mainstream success she likely deserves, Amy Wadge has nonetheless over time pulled in a sizeable and dedicated following for her melodic AOR songs.
No Sudden Moves, her second full-length album, contains more of the breezily confident songwriting she's become known for. It marks a progression, too, for its songwriting collaborations with producers Henry Priestman and Guy Batson, though it's a shame no songs were co-written with electrosleaze master David Wrench, who mixed many of the album's tracks.
Highlights include the yearning, jazzy Always, the strident Pulling Me In, and her piano-based interpretation of Manic Street Preachers' A Design For Life. Effortlessly oozing quality, and with a clear gift for crafting songs, No Sudden Moves deserves to bring Amy Wadge widespread acclaim.
