With guest spots from fellow baritone Simon Keenlyside (on the Karl Jenkins-written Ave Verum Corpus), Aled Jones (Panis Angelicus) and guitarist John Williams (She Was Beautiful), Simple Gifts takes in a wide range of styles, from folk to show tunes, though traditional religious songs inevitably form the bulk.
There's room for surprises among Bryn's restrained interpretations, however, notably on his reading of Sondheim's Send In The Clowns. Another rousing display of virtuosity from this remarkable performer.
