By far the biggest dance event in Wales and the South West of England, Escape Into The Park has become one of the must-play events for some of the world's best DJs and dance acts.
Line-up 2010
- Above & Beyond
- Steve Angello
- Scratch Perverts
- Judge Jules
- Big Al
- Neil Navarra
- Darren Styles
- Lisa Lashes
The festival kicked off in 2000 and has grown from an offshoot of Swansea's Escape club into a behemoth that brings over 30,000 revellers to Singleton Park for seven stages of performances.
The atmosphere is one of the main attractions of EITP, as Radio 1 DJ and regular guest Dave Pearce said, "The greatest thing is that it's not a big corporate affair. It's almost like a family thing, a chance for some of us DJs to catch up with each other.
"It's always sunny too - whenever I've played Homelands it rains! Escape is a great event to do and I really enjoy it. I do believe that it's putting Wales on the clubbing map."
The pulling power of the city's Escape club and the expertise of the owners meant that from the off it was able to attract top names. Back in 2001 Judge Jules, Forry Corsten, Graeme Park and Lisa Lashes played, surfing a post-trance and a garage wave.
In 2004 a new urban stage was implemented to cater for the smoother sounds of R'n'B, UK garage and drum'n'bass.
It has surfed the cultural waves of dance music well and offers a definite party element, even having Goldie Lookin' Chain play in 2005.
