Today will be a windy day with blustery, heavy showers for the north and west, some wintry over the Highlands. The south and west will see fewer showers and more in the way of bright spells.

Tonight

Staying windy tonight, especially in the north. Heavy showers will continue across the north with some snow over the hills. The best of clear spells will be to the south and south-east.

Tuesday

Cloudy tomorrow morning with further showers and some hill snow in the north-east. Cloud will break somewhat in the afternoon but showers will graze past the far south-west while easing elsewhere.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday

Mist and fog in places on Wednesday morning under light winds. Once it lifts, most areas will see bright skies but the far north will stay cloudier. Risk of a few coastal showers in the east. Bright skies across Scotland on Thursday but turning windy and cloudier in the Western Isles by evening. A chilly few days. Becoming windy, milder and partly cloudy on Friday.
