The world was stunned as South Africa's last apartheid government announced the most famous political prisoner, Nelson Mandela, and fellow activists were to be freed.

International music star, Hugh Masekela was still in exile, he told ´óÏó´«Ã½'s Peter Ndoro what the announcement and Nelson Mandela's eventual release from prison - after 27 years - meant to him.
